A Moment of Magic RCNJ is dedicated to harnessing the power of play to spark joy, foster connection, reduce isolation, and support the mental health and emotional healing for medically vulnerable children and their families.

We have proudly served New Jersey since 2021 by engaging students at Ramapo College. Together, we bring moments of magic, hope, and healing to children when they need it most.

When we saw the video of @briestrongerthancancer , a brave cancer fighter with a big imagination, leading her very own dance and inviting the world to join in, we listened.

And then, we danced.

Our JMU volunteers came together across campus to raise awareness, bring light, and share Brielle's dream with the world.

At Children’s Specialized Hospital, 55 medically complex children experienced an afternoon of pure magic thanks to A Moment of Magic’s Ramapo College chapter.

Princesses read stories at the bedside. Characters sparked laughter in the hallways. Smiles replaced stress — not just for the children, but for their families and care teams too.

Mary Kate, a Child Life Specialist, shared: “The experience with our medically complex children was invaluable. Your characters interacted so thoughtfully with our children and it was so appreciated. I am so grateful and excited for future visits.”

Walking into the children’s hospital as a Magic Maker volunteer opened my heart in ways I never expected. 💜

Because of hospital rules, I couldn’t step inside every patient's room, but that meant I got to see the magic unfold from a new perspective. Standing just outside, I watched our characters fill the hallways with laughter and hope, lifting the spirits of not just the children, but their families and all the caring staff. In those moments, there was genuine joy and connection everywhere I looked. ✨

Seeing the difference we can make, even in the smallest interactions, reminded me how much light we bring to those who need it most. This experience filled me with purpose and a renewed commitment to support the mission in every way I can.

Magic Makers
Character Program

Our flagship program brings beloved characters to children as part of trauma-informed, play-based healing. Magic Makers—trained in child development, emotional regulation, and dignity-centered care—collaborate with hospital teams and caregivers to reduce anxiety, foster joy, and support each child's circle of care.

Express, Create, Heal
Targeted Intervention Program

Express, Create, Heal is a peer-led, trauma-informed program for children affected by cancer, developed with mental health professionals to address grief, anxiety, identity, and more. Through storytelling and creative expression, children ages 3 to 18 engage in guided activities that foster belonging and emotional resilience during a time of profound upheaval.

AMoM Unlimited
Virtual Programming

AMoM Unlimited is a free, on-demand digital library designed for medically vulnerable children who can’t receive in-person visits. With storytimes, themed activities, and uplifting videos led by trained volunteers, the program delivers play-based healing anywhere—removing barriers and ensuring every child can access the magic.
