Childhood cancer rates have risen by more than 40% since 1975, and we believe that’s a public health crisis that cannot be ignored.
That’s why A Moment of Magic is honored to join the newly launched Childhood Cancer Prevention Consortium, a coalition of leading nonprofits and health organizations working to prevent childhood cancer before it begins. Led by PREP4Gold, this unprecedented effort brings together science, advocacy, and action to address the environmental and systemic factors contributing to rising diagnosis rates.
As our Executive Director Kylee McGrane-Zarnoch put it: “The rising rates of childhood cancer are a public health crisis, and we cannot afford to treat prevention as optional or narrow. The Prevention Consortium is a chance to tell a different story where prevention includes psychosocial health, equity, and access, and where strategies don’t just exist in theory but translate into real outcomes.”
This Consortium enables us to work in partnership with other leading organizations to fund research, develop early detection strategies, and reimagine a future where fewer children face a diagnosis.
Through our work with medically vulnerable children, we see the impact of childhood cancer every single day. Joining this movement aligns with our core mission: to spark healing, hope, and now prevention.
Together with partners across the country, we’re building something unprecedented: a blueprint for protecting children before diagnosis, uplifting families with equity at the center, and rewriting the future of pediatric health.
Let’s make sure this moment isn’t a moment at all, but a movement.
With magic and momentum,
The A Moment of Magic Team
